Richardson's Shangri-La Resort
We invite you to experience the charm of Richardson’s Shangri-La Resort. In 1949 Ralph and Jan Richardson began building their dream of a quiet Minnesota fishing resort on the shores of Pelican Lake. This classic Northwood’s retreat is now owned and operated by third generation Richardson family. While all nine cabins have recently been completely renovated and modernized, we have stayed true to the original vision of a secluded spot centered on family, friends, and fishing.
Your vacation starts with a hand-crafted cabin nested under a canopy of pine and birch trees within feet of the water’s edge. We are ideally located in the heart of Kabetogama State Forest; sharing the same topography as nearby Voyageur’s National Park and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We are fortunate to be located in a private bay with 180 acres of wilderness within feet of the water’s lakefront and over a mile of shoreline. We are even more fortunate to have developed many wonderful friendships with guests who annually make Richardson’s Shangri-La their northern Minnesota home.
